Brainstorming

Chelsea decided to continue exploring her topic ideas by brainstorming with a good friend. While this technique can be performed individually, it is often more effective if done in groups of two or more. Brainstorming, also known as listing, involves writing down whatever comes to mind about a given topic. In this stage of the writing process, there are no wrong answers, and this technique becomes fun when group members create energy by building on each other’s ideas. Set a time limit of at least 10 minutes, and then go back and begin to evaluate all of the ideas that have been generated. The video provides more information about the brainstorming process. Some of the ideas in the video are more applicable to a business setting, but the principles will work in any brainstorming session.

Next Steps

After completing this process, Chelsea decided to move onto clustering to see the relationships between the ideas she generated in the brainstorming session.
