Immigration or Life in Outer Space?

Before I began freewriting, I was leaning towards the idea of writing about immigration, which is a hot topic right now with the election going on and everything. Also, I figured that there would be plenty of research about it, and I knew that it definitely qualified as "controversial," which my professor says is important for this paper. After freewriting for five minutes, however, I realized that I felt way more excitement when writing about the potential of life in outer space than when writing about immigration. My professor says it's important to choose something that we are interested in because we will be writing about it for a long time. Also, I felt like I was able to generate more original ideas when freewriting about that. So I guess I'm going to focus on life in outer space for this paper. Wish me luck!
